Yung Pinch – “The Navy” (Prod. Zaytoven)

Spinning saccharine hooks infused with hip-hop tradition, Southern California’s Yung Pinch is one of the rap game’s rapid risers. Joining forces with one of the Dirty South’s most influential sound architects, Pinch struts his stuff on “The Navy,” his latest single. Created during Zaytoven’s SXSW producer seminar, “The Navy” emphasizes the melodic gifts of both artists, with Pinch effortlessly delivering impeccable tunes over Zaytoven’s arpeggiated keys, dramatic, pitch-shifted vocals, and pulsating bass. Featured in a standalone coda about the future of trap from The Note: Zaytoven, a new Red Bull-produced documentary about the ATL producer, “The Navy” is the latest entry in Yung Pinch’s #4EVERFRIDAY series of singles and his latest collaboration with a major producer following his appearance on Carnage’s “Bed Bugs,” alongside Takeoff and Nessly.

Red Bull Music announces that acclaimed Atlanta producer Zaytoven is the subject of the newest episode of its music documentary series, The Note. The series uncovers the vital creativity and engrossing personal journeys that profoundly impact our present day musical landscape. The Note: Zaytoven intimately explores the musical duality of Zaytoven: a renowned architect of modern trap music who is also a devoted church musician. These worlds, which might appear incompatible, in fact unforgettably merged in “Mama’s Basement” – the DIY home studio Zaytoven ran out of his parents’ Christian household which played host to the early recordings by some of ATL’s rawest rap talent. This is the origin story of modern trap music, an examination of the relationships tested and broken by the streets, and a celebration of spiritual resolve. The Note: Zaytoven is scored entirely by Zaytoven and will feature archival behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with collaborators and fellow innovators, including: Gucci Mane, OJ Da Juiceman, Young Dolph, Bankroll Fresh, and Cassius Jay. The documentary sets the stage for the arrival of Zaytoven’s forthcoming full-length debut album, Trap Holizay, coming soon.

Treating his fans to a weekly piece of new music, Yung Pinch keeps busy with his #4EVERFRIDAY series. The “Bluntington Beach” native keeps his fans satisfied with a stream of catchy releases, including “Sail Away,” the wavy HYPEBEAST-premiered video, “Smoke & Drive,” which samples Weezer’s “Island In The Sun” and features appearances from fellow Cali hitmakers blackbear and P-Lo, and the YG-featuring “Big Checks.” Most recently, Pinch shared the awestruck and infectious “20 Years Later,” and the video for “1997,” a black-and-white retrospective of his wildly successful All 4 The Love Tour, which ends next week in Honolulu after selling out 13 dates, including in far-from-home locales such as Dallas, Atlanta, Birmingham, and Toronto.
